Disqualification plea: LHC to hear case against MPA on 19th
The petition has been filed by the MPA Shamsa Gohar’s husband who claimed that she is an honest person.
LAHORE:
Justice Imtiaz Ahmad of the Lahore High Court, accepting an application for early hearing, has set November 19 for the hearing of a petition seeking the disqualification of Shamsa Gohar from the Punjab Assembly.
The petition has been filed by the MPA’s husband, Gohar Sarfraz Qureshi. He has sought her disqualification under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution on the grounds that she is not an honest person. Qureshi said that he had wed her on April 9, 2006, not knowing that she was already married to a man named Abid Ali. He said that there was no proof that the couple had divorced.
