Expired medicine: Pharmacy issued notice over expired drug complaint
‘Patient’s condition deteriorated on administration of expired injection’.

The consumer court on Monday summoned the managing director and the Model Town branch manager of Fazal Din and Sons Pharmacy on January 2 to respond to a petition seeking damages for selling expired medicine.
Petitioner Humayun Sindhu submitted that he is diabetic and that he purchased an insulin injection from the Model Town branch of the Fazal Din and Sons Pharmacy. He said his condition deteriorated after the injection. He said he later checked and discovered that the injection had been expired. He said his doctor confirmed that the injection was expired and had caused his condition to deteriorate. He said he visited the pharmacy to lodge a complaint but rathan than entertaining his complaint the manager threatened him. He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay Rs500,000 in damages.
No one from Fazal Din and Sons Pharmacy was available for a comment.
