Sectarian violence: Three Hazaras killed in Mach district

The gunmen, who arrived on a motorcycle, fled the scene immediately after the incident.

QUETTA:
At least three Hazaras were killed and two others injured in yet another incident of sectarian targeted killing in the Mach district of Bolan area in Balochistan on Monday.

According to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kachi Abdul Waheed Shah, unknown armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on a vegetable shop near Hazara Imam Bargah in main Mach bazaar. As a result, three people died on the spot and two others sustained injures.

The deceased and the injured were taken to Quetta for treatment.

The deceased were identified as Ghulam Ali, Mohammad Ibrahim and Mohammad Ali while the injured were identified as Asad and Taki. All belonged to the Hazara community, the police confirmed.


Soon after the incident, the people of Hazara community came out on the streets and staged a protest. They condemned the killing of Hazaras and chanted slogans against the government and its functionaries.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the killing till the filing of the report.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against unknown persons and an investigation is underway.

Earlier this month, a Balochistan Levies Force operative was kidnapped near a market in the Mach area and forced him into a vehicle. No group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
