ISLAMABAD: Duties on the import of 3-36 horsepower, single-cylinder diesel engines for agricultural purposes have been eliminated. Eleven types of spare parts of such diesel engines have also been provided exemption from customs duties.

However, a 10 per cent duty has now been imposed on 10 different types of spare parts of the same engines.  This was revealed in the statutory regulatory orders (SROs) issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Customs duties on the import of diesel engines were previously levied at 10 per cent. Spare parts now exempted from import duties include cover seats, cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, pistons, exhaust valves and springs among others.

Those parts now included in customs duties are fuel injection pumps, fuel injectors, oil pumps, crankshafts and so on.
