EPD Secretary Saeed Wahla passes away
Wahla's funeral prayers will be held at main DHA mosque at 1:30pm after Friday prayers (today).

Saeed Iqbal Wahla, the Environment Protection Department secretary, died of a heart attack on Thursday at the age of 53.
His colleague Naseemur Rahman Shah said he received a call 15 minutes after Wahla had left the office at around 5pm informing him that Wahla had suffered a heart attack. Shah said Wahla was taken to the United Christian Hospital. where doctors tried to resuscitate him. He was declared beyond help at 6pm.
Wahla was posted as the EPD secretary in April 2012. He had earlier served as the Gujranwala commissioner and Faisalabad commissioner.
Wahla had led efforts to amend in the Environment Protection Act 2012 to make it a more effective law. He has also been credited for steps taken by the government to eradicate dengue from Lahore. He also played an active role in the River Ravi Commission set up to restore the ecological balance and the river of pollutants.
Wahla had told The Express Tribune in a recent conversation that the next major campaign he planned was against unscrupulous people in hospital administrations selling infections waste.
Wahla is survived by his wife, Sajida Wahla, sons Rafay and Rawal Wahla and a daughter. His eldest son is currently studying in Canada.
His funeral prayers will be held at main DHA mosque at 1:30pm after Friday prayers (today).
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Secretary Nasir Mahmood Khosa and a host of colleagues expressed his grief at the news of Wahla’s demise. They said he was a dutiful and honest officer who will be remembered for his dedication.
