CDA reshuffles 36 top officials

Late Thursday shuffle in CDA is the second in three weeks.

ISLAMABAD:

In its second reshuffle within three weeks, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) transferred and posted 36 officers late on Thursday evening. Interestingly, the new chairman of the civic agency had stated in a recent interview that the CDA would try to avoid frequent transfers and postings and let the staff work in a settled environment.

Among those was Rawal Khan Mailta. He had assumed the role of director general of the law directorate on October 22, but on Thursday he was switched back to his old post of director general at the civic management directorate. Fawad Anwar Khan, who had replaced Maitla in the Oct 22 notification, retained his post, which means the civic management directorate now has two director generals.

The law directorate is without a director general, though. CDA spokesperson Ramzan Sajid said a committee is looking into the reorganisation of the law directorate. The committee, led by CDA’s Member Planning and Design Mustafain Kazmi, will present its recommendations soon, he said.

Maitla and Khan were among nine officers of the executive cadre who were moved or posted on Thursday.

Nadeem Akbar Malik, who was awaiting posting after being removed from his position of CDA board secretary, has been made director of sanitation. Sheraz Sami has been made the staff officer to member planning and design.

A grade-18 officer who was awaiting posting, Ijaz Ahmed Bajwa, has been made director staff to the CDA chairman.

Similarly, eight officers of the planning cadre have been transferred across the various directorates which fall under CDA’s planning wing, such as urban planning and housing societies.

Another planning official who was awaiting posting, Khaliqur Rehman will now work as deputy director general Planning. Rehman will look after the work of director regional planning, according to the notification issued by CDA’s Human Resource directorate.

Eighteen officers of the audit and accounts cadre were also reshuffled, including a circular reshuffle where four deputy directors replaced each other.

Arif Nokhez, the deputy director-II Audit, replaced Maqbool Ahmed, the deputy director-I of Audit. Ahmed was made the deputy director of Programming & Evaluation. He replaced Ijaz Hussain who, in turn, replaced Khalida Parveen as the new deputy director of Procurement & Contracts. Finally, Parveen took the place of Nokhez to bring the reshuffle full circle.
