Overbilling: Consumers advised to double check bills
Ministry has directed all DISCOs to depute officials to monitor performance of complaint and customer services centres

The Ministry of Water and Power has advised electricity consumers to compare their monthly bills immediately on receipt with their meter readings in order to check overbilling. This would also be helpful in reducing the chances of any errors in the future as well, said a press release issued here on Thursday. The ministry has further directed all distribution companies (DISCOs) to depute officials to monitor performance of complaint centres and customer services centres of all their respective circles to resolve public complaints at the earliest. The ministry has also appealed in its advisory that consumers pay their monthly bills on time and contribute to resolution of the electricity crisis in the country.
