A state of the art cricket academy would be set up at University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Punjab Sports Board Chairman Hamza Shahbaz announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a ceremony held at D-Ground of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Shahbaz said the academy would help the Faisalabd youth to become international cricketers.
He said the Pakistani youth had stunned the world by making 11 world records during the Punjab Youth Festival.
He said Pakistan had vast coal and gold reserves. All it needed was a committed government to attract foreign investors in the power and mining sector.
Shahbaz said had the $10 billion spent on the war against terrorism in the last decade had been spent on education, the country would have been better served.
He said he was hopeful that young people in the country would contribute to the progress of the country despite corruption in key institutions including the PIA, Railway, Pakistan Steel Mills, the OGRA and the NICL.
Laptops and internship letters were given to UAF evening students and Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) students during the ceremony.
The ceremony was also attended by UAF Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, GCUF VC Dr Zakir Hussain, MNA Abid Sher Ali, Chaudhary Asim Nazir and cricketer Saeed Ajmal.
Earlier, a Punjab Police contingent presented a guard of honour to the recipients.
