We hope Afghanistan and ISAF take action against Fazlullah: FO

Pakistan shares dossiers on Fazlullah with Afghan government and NATO-led ISAF.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Moazzam Ali Khan, speaking to reporters in his weekly briefing, said Pakistan hoped that the Afghan government, as well as the International Security Action Force (ISAF), will take action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Mullah Fazlullah, who is currently hiding in Afghanistan.

“We have shared dossiers on Fazlullah both with the Afghan government as well as ISAF. We are intensively engaging both sides to take care of this issue. There are some responses and we are closely working on that,” he added, confirming that Pakistan had requested authorities in Afghanistan to take action against the militant.

Mullah Fazlullah is regarded as the mastermind behind the attack on Malala Yousufzai.

Some US officials have confirmed he is hiding in a section of eastern Afghanistan, but have feigned from taking action against him since he is not linked to the al Qaeda.

However, US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said on Thursday that action would be taken against Fazlullah if any credible evidence is found about his presence in Afghanistan.
