Shahbaz announces internship programme

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced an internship programme for the province’s youth, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.
Around 50,000 young men and women in Punjab will be trained in various fields for three months and be provided a Rs10,000 monthly stipend, the release said.
The CM announced the programme at an internship letter distribution ceremony at the Islamia University Bahawalpur on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, he said the programme provided an opportunity to the youth of Pakistan, who have been unable to find employment despite relevant degrees due to lack of suitable experience. Addressing the youth particularly, he reminded them of the importance of their vote in the upcoming elections.
Sharif also said that a Rs10 billion Punjab Educational Endowment Fund had been created, adding that thousands of students across the province were being provided scholarships through it. Announcing that the construction of a hospital in Bahawalpur was nearing completion, he said a post-graduate medical college, affiliated with Islamia University, will also be set up in the city.
