Medicine prices: Pharma Bureau wants a greater increase

The price increase sought was long overdue and the increase allowed was not sufficient.

KARACHI:
The increase in prices of a few medicines recently approved by the government is much less than what the industry demanded, a spokesperson for the Pharma Bureau (PB) has said in a statement. He added that the price increase sought was long overdue and the increase allowed was not sufficient when adjusted with inflation and the rising costs of raw material. Inflation and rising cost of input materials have made it impossible for the industry to continue producing quality medicines, the statement said.
