PML-N issues show-cause notice to women wing leader
The move came after Shazia Aurangzeb was said to have violated party discipline for the second time.
PESHAWAR:
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) issued a show-cause notice to the party’s central Women Wing Secretary General Shazia Aurangzeb for violating party discipline.
General Secretary Rehmat Salam, while talking to The Express Tribune, confirmed that K-P provincial president Pir Sabir Shah has issued a show-cause notice to Aurangzeb. He said that Aurangzeb had criticised provincial president Begum Tahira Bukhari and general secretary Begum Shaheen Habibullah of the women wing K-P chapter earlier as well and the notice was issued to her after today’s second press conference.
Earlier in the day, the PML-N announced reorganisation of its women’s wing in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Four new organisers, including Imtiaz Sultan Bukhari, Sufia Israr, Dr Shahida and Seema Ikram were appointed for the Peshawar division to run the league’s affairs.
In a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Aurangzeb said that female units will be formed at the union council (UC) level. About 200 women will work under the supervision of organisers and a lady coordinator will lead the unit.
No office bearers of the women’s wing in K-P or other provinces have been notified as yet. Women members, Tahira and Shaheen, will also be adjusted by the PML-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, she said, adding that appointments will be merit based.
There was confusion in the ranks when Begum Tahira and Begum Shaheen declared themselves as the provincial president and general secretary of the K-P women’s wing.
Aurangzeb refuted these claims, stating that no notifications appointing any office has been issued. “As central secretary general of the party’s women’s wing, I have complete authority to notify any office bearer.”
