QUETTA: We should also hold a referendum for citizens to decide between Quaid’s Pakistan or Altaf Hussain’s Pakistan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Wednesday.
He was addressing a press conference in Quetta.
The JUI-F chief was laughingly responding to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) proposed referendum on what kind of Pakistan its citizens wanted to live in - Quaid’s Pakistan or Taliban’s Pakistan.
The MQM referendum, which was earlier scheduled to be held on November 8, is postponed to November 14.
Following this call for referendum, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had announced its decision “to liberate Karachi” from the MQM, adding that “every step would be taken against them.”
TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan had said that the decision was taken to set the people of Karachi free from the clutches of “these persecutors”.

@Zalmai
Thanks for responding. But Mr. @Khawar is quiet. May be he is too busy to respond.
Wake up nation! We dont need referendums for waking us from our slumber.... we need to root these deplorable politicians from politics once and for all!
@Debal
Indian Muslims revere Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as nationalist leaders and are indifferent towards Jinnah.
@Khawar
'Please read Jinnah by Jaswant Singh. Oxford University Press.'
I don't know; should I lough or cry. I asked a very specific question, How Indian Muslims look at Jinnah?
Jaswant Singh is neither a Muslim, nor he is a leader of any Muslim organisation. Why should I read his book to know the Indian Muslim's view on Jinnah?
Have no doubt that Altaf Hussain is struggling for Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan for the last three decades. We want Altaf Hussain's kay Quaid ka Pakistan.
@Khawar: You may also read Rafiq Zakaia's book on Jinnah.
It's my Pakistan
Please read Jinnah by Jaswant Singh. Oxford University Press. @debal:
The only choice should be Quaid's Pakistan because neither Altaf's , nor Maulana Fazal ur Rahmen, nor Zardai, nor Mush/Kayani, nor Nawaz, nor IK, nor definetely not Shujaat or Wali's Pakistan is desired, because it is they who have detroyed his vision and given us nothing except poverty, killings, illiteracy, violence, and plunder of this state.
Only Altaf!
Just qurious. How Indian Muslims look at Jinnah?
Quaid's Pakistan was killed within a few years of its birth. What remains is still a land rich with potential being looted and plundered by those claiming to be patriots some using democracy, some religion, some the Quaid's name and some simply 'we know best' while the people for whom this land was made rot in despair.
Altaf lives in UK, Moulana lives in fools paradise. May God have mercy on Pakistanis, especially Karachities.
We may want Quaid's Pakistan or Altaf Hussain's what we certainly don't want is your Pakistan Maulana Sahab! Buzz off!
I am not an MQM supporter but I can tell you one thing and I am sorry I'm saying it. I respect Quad e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and what he stood for and I would not be where I am today were it not for him.
On the same hand, I am sorry but he died over 30 years before I was born. And he died too early to really do anything significant in influencing Pakistan's course. His vision may be ideal for us but he's sadly dead and gone and we aren't going to get anywhere harking back to the Past and trying to figure out what his vision was.
In my humble opinion, I don't mind giving Altaf Bhai a chance because atleast he's alive to drive a vision. In fact, his vision is not bad at all (reduce the power of the landlords, stop corruption etc.) unfortunately its execution is weak and doesn't apply to him or his party (just like the British who ruled us spoke about equality but only equality for the British citizens not subjects).
I would support Altaf Bhai's vision if only he were true to it.
QUID VERSUS TALIBAN IS QUID VERSUS MAULANA
At least MQM ha guts to speak againt taliban! maulana SAAB please support this gutsy nobel cause of MQM.
The taliban sympathizers strike back !!
we want pakistan without altaf,zardari,nawaz
its even bigger hypocrisy for Altaf to conduct such a referendum since his point of view about Pakistan is same as the JUI point of view before creation of Pakistan.Altaf cannot come to Islamabad but we heard him saying in Delhi that creation of Pakistan was greatest mistake ever made in the history of mankind.if a Mullah had said something like that in India Pakistani media would have slaughtered him.1

LOL, this is getting hilarious!
Mullah Diesel in action again.
despite all difference with Mr. Fazal, i will appreciate him for this excellent shot. Great response,
Yeh Cheez!!!!!!!!
Ha ha Just Quaid's
@Midas: Yes his forefathers were like Altaf Hussain's in this sense, both consider Pakistan a mistake
lol, molana's forefathers were against pakistan and he is also supporting the extremist regieme which is against the prospering pakistan, while MQM is asking for a moderate pakistan instead. therefore molana my vote for MQM ki policy for pakistan
Maulana is specialist in supporting terrorists. After all , these banned outfits have taken birth from his Party. The line goes like this JUI(F) SSPLG__TTP. May the curse of God be upon all those who divide our nation on the basis of same religon.
Whatever... Good one Maulana
Why not, 'Whos Pakistan? Taliban/Altaf's OR Qaid's?
Or more realistically, his or Altaf Hussain's Pakistan. I'll take Altaf's if that's the only choice.
Maulana! Halaku Khan is coming get ready.
Mullah! establishment has given you divorce You better take care of your constituency of Mussarat Shahin.
MQM proposed to hold referendum whether people want Quaid's Pakistan or Taliban's Pakistan.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman want's to hold referendum on whose Pakistan - Quaid's Pakistan or Altaf Hussain's Pakistan?
But the actual referendum should be whether people want Pakistan which was before 1984 or after 1984?
Funny. His forefathers were agianst the creation of Pakistan so why should he care?
Maulana ka doosra LOL
Mollana Fazal-ur-Rehman will lose the referendum badly. That's for sure.
