CNN interview: Suspect’s sister apologises to Malala

Expressing sorrow on her brothers’ actions, Haleem states Malala was like her own sister.

Sister of the key suspect in Malala Yousafzai’s shooting apologised to the teenage activist in an exclusive interview with CNN. While talking to CNN Rehana Haleem, sister of a key suspect Attah Ullah Khan said that she wanted to apologise to Malala for her brother attacking her. “Please convey a message to Malala that I apologise for what my brother did to her” adding that her brother’s act had brought shame and disgrace upon the family. Expressing sorrow on her brothers’ actions Haleem stated that Malala was like her own sister “what he did was intolerable. I’d like to express my concern for Malala on behalf of my whole family; I don’t consider Atta Ullah my brother anymore.” Not ruling out the possibilities of her brother being involved in the shooting, Haleem says that her brother would have come to clear his name if he was not involved and by going into hiding he just proved himself guilty.
