‘Poisoned’: Woman dies, children survive
Rescue 1122 team told police that they had found them lying unconscious near GT Road.

A woman, who doctors believe poisoned herself and her daughters, 3 and 5, died on Monday night. Her two children are said to be stable. The family was taken to Civil Hospital on Monday afternoon. Rescue 1122 team told police that they had found them lying unconscious near GT Road. The woman was identified as Shabnam. Police said Shabnam had regained consciousness on Monday evening and told them that she did not remember anything, except that she had hitched a ride with someone. She said she had blacked out shortly after and woke up in hospital. However, doctors told police that they believe that the woman had swallowed wheat preservative tablets and also administered the poison to her children.
