Blasphemous movie: JUI-F to hold demonstration

“We are supported by Christians and other minorities, who are also expected to participate,” says Asif Iqbal Daudzai.

PESHAWAR:
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) has planned a rally in Peshawar on November 15 against the anti-Islam film, ‘Innocence of Muslims’, fearing that the issue had been ‘buried’. Speaking at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, former provincial minister and current JUI-F Information Sectary Asif Iqbal Daudzai said that the party has decided to hold a ‘Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Car Rally’ to bring the issues back into the light and pressurise rulers to ask the UN and OIC to enforce a law against blasphemy at the international level. “We are supported by Christians and other minorities, who are also expected to participate,” he said. Daudzai added that the aim of the protest was to promote religious harmony and unity against profane acts such as the movie. He said that the car-rally would host approximately 5,000 vehicles and would head towards GT Road, where central and provincial leaders would address participants.
