Management change: Ex-CAA chief takes the helm again

CAA officials say the abrupt appointment of top management is a nuisance.

KARACHI:
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director General (DG) Captain Nadeem Yousufzai has resigned from his post over the reappointment of Air Marshal (retd) Khalid Chaudhry. Yousufzai, who served in the CAA for six months, was apparently not pleased with the reappointment of Chaudhry, CAA officials said on Monday.  Yousafzai sent his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari on October 30. According to the notice on CAA’s website, Chaudhry has taken charge as DG CAA with effect from November 5, 2012. Interestingly, Yousafzai had taken charge of DG CAA from Chaudhry. CAA officials said the abrupt appointment of top management is a nuisance and creates problems for the smooth functioning of the institution.  “There is a tug of war between civilian and military officials who are lobbying for their respective candidates without taking into consideration the sensitive nature of the institution,” a CAA official said.
