MANSEHRA:

A series of pamphlets criticising the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and exhorting the government to launch a military operation in North Waziristan have been distributed in parts of Mansehra.

The Urdu-language pamphlets do not identify its publishers and police and intelligence agencies have started investigating as to where they originated from. Some months back, similar pamphlets supporting the TTP were making rounds in Mansehra.

According to police and journalists, four different 10x4 pamphlets have been dropped outside local hotels and offices of lawyers and media persons. One of these, titled ‘Bachao Pakistan Tehreek’ (Save Pakistan Movement) uses references from the Holy Quran and saying of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) to declare suicide bombing un-Islamic.

Carrying the pictures of President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti, it urges the three to launch an operation in North Waziristan against the TTP.

The second pamphlet praises the Pakistan Army for its previous operations in Swat and the tribal areas. It criticises political leaders who did not condemn the attack on Malala Yousafzai, but appreciates PPP, ANP and MQM for showing solidarity with her.

The third pamphlet too, carries messages condemning the attack on Malala and praising PPP, ANP and MQM leadership.

The last pamphlet criticised the country’s superior judiciary and media for not acting strongly against the Taliban.
