Assault: Battered woman hospitalised

MANSEHRA:

A woman was hospitalised after allegedly being physically assaulted by her husband and in-laws, police said on Sunday. She also accused her husband and in-laws of detaining her.

Mehnaz Bibi, 28, told the Saddar police that she married Muhammad Banaras of Khetan da Gala village from Abbottabad about two years back. She has been treated badly ever since. She repeatedly complained to her parents about them, but every time they persuaded her to compromise.

Her patience gave in last week when she was beaten up. Following the beating, she approached the Saddar police in Mansehra. They asked her to go back home.

On Saturday, she was admitted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital after she was allegedly beaten up by her in-laws.

The doctors there said she had bruises and injuries which showed she had been physically assaulted.

The police said they have registered a criminal case against her husband and in-laws: Banaras, Parvez, Rafia, Manzoor and Chanzeb.
