PAF continue winning run

Retain fourth spot in PPFL after convincing 3-0 win over Wohaib FC.

KARACHI:
PAF retained their fourth spot in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) after defeating Wohaib FC 3-0 in Peshawar yesterday.

After a goalless first half, the deadlock was finally broken when Wohaib FC defender Naeem Ahmed’s error gifted an own goal to PAF in the 47th minute. PAF striker Muhammad Zeeshan doubled the lead in the 67th minute while Muhammad Mudassar Waseem sealed the victory for the home team in the dying seconds of the match.

With the win, PAF remain one of the top contenders for the title, gaining 34 points after 17 matches, behind KRL, Army and KESC in the top three spots respectively. On the other hand, Wohaib FC lost their 11th match in the league, sinking to the bottom with only eight points.


“It’s our 10th win of the season and so far, this has been our luckiest match,” a PAF official told The Express Tribune. “We are the top-scoring team in the league at the moment with 41 goals in 17 matches. We have 10 more matches to play at home, so the title is well within our reach.”

Meanwhile, KPT failed to overcome Baloch FC in a goalless draw in Noushki yesterday. With the draw, Baloch FC climbed up to 15th place while KPT moved into the 10th position with 17 points after 17 matches. This was KPT’s fifth draw of the season.
