Bomb alert on Karachi train
Train vacated, search operation initiated after reports emerged of a bomb planted on train.
KARACHI:
A train at Landhi Railway Station in Karachi was vacated after unconfirmed reports emerged about a bomb planted on the locomotive, reported Express News on Saturday.
A search operation was initiated immediately after the reports.
Express News correspondent Wasiq Mohammad reported that the train was on its way to Rawalpindi when a person informed the authorities of a planted bomb. The railway police stopped the train at the Landhi station and vacated it.
The bomb disposal squad also arrived for an inspection.
Earlier in August, two people were killed when a bomb exploded on the railway track in the town of Thul in Jacobabad. The explosion had caused two of the train’s cars to derail.
