Deadly fire: Factory worker burnt to death
DSP Akhtar says owner of makeshift factory in New Karachi has been arrested.
KARACHI:
A moulding factory worker was burnt to death in a fire at a makeshift factory in New Karachi. Mohammad Iqbal, 28, died when a fire broke out in the early hours of Friday morning.
DSP Mohammad Akhtar said that police have arrested the owner of the factory, identified as Sabir, for running an illegal factory in a residential area for the last eight years. “Iqbal died due to the negligence of owner as he had mixed water in oil to enhance the quantity,” said Akhtar.
He added that the fire spread ferociously after an electrical wire fell into the oil. Iqbal had been working at the factory for last three years and lived in the same area. The police registered a case against the owner and an investigation is underway.
