SC to hear petition against SPLGO on November 8

The Supreme Court of Pakistan admitted an application filed against the Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) on Friday, reported Express News. The court will hear the case on November 8.

The ordinance was challenged in the apex court on September 8 by Syed Iqbal Kazmi, a member of Karachi City Alliance.
The local government ordinance passed by the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in collaboration with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) faced vast criticism from several political and religious parties of the country.
Nationalist parties in Sindh, terming the ordinance a conspiracy to break the province, have also held several protests.
