India govt refuses entry to Pakistan body builders, U16 baseball team

South Asian Body Building Championship will take place in India November 2-4.

KARACHI:
The Indian government has refused to permit Pakistan’s body building team to participate in a regional championship, Express News reported on Friday.

The South Asian Body Building Championship will take place in India from November 2-4.

Pakistan Body Building Federation had earlier sought permission for participation of its 15-member team in the event. However, the team cannot take part in the championship as its members will not be issued visas after the government's decision.

Last year, the national team had clinched four gold medals in the same event held in Nepal.

No visas for baseball team

India has refused to grant visas to Pakistan Junior Baseball team.

The under-16 team intended to participate in the Asian Junior Baseball Championship, which will commence on November 5 in India.

The young sportsmen were practising in Lahore for the event for the last two months.

The team was supposed to register itself for the event by tomorrow.

Team coach Usman Shaukat told The Express Tribune that the players left for their hometowns after India refused to issue visas to them.

Correction: An earlier headline of this article erroneously mentioned the junior baseball team as under-15. The correction has been made.
