MULTAN: Manzoor Wattoo, the federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and newly-appointed President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central Punjab, said on Tuesday that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s waning popularity will soon be restricted to their party headquarters in Raiwand.

“If I was to reveal the list of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNAs and MPAs contacting me, then the Pakistan Peoples Party will definitely be blamed for pre-poll rigging in Punjab, but the PML-N must be aware of the reality that no one wants dictatorship in the form of democracy,” said Wattoo.

He made the comments while speaking to a group of PPP workers from Burewala area in the Vehari district. “The PML-N will soon be restricted to Raiwind where they can make their empire or sultanate – whatever they want,” he added.

“The strategy of PPP is simple, and that is to empower the real representatives of Pakistan so that they will be independent and solve the problems of their people,” he said, clarifying his party’s approach in Punjab.

The PPP will begin their organisational membership in November with everyone who believes in bringing people to power, he added, “because we never spend billions in the elections to get victory.”

“Take the example of Azad Kashmir. PML-N kept on dividing due to their dictatorial policies and eventually finished the chapter. The same will happen in Punjab,” he said, quoting an example of how PML-N fared in Kashmir elections.

Wattoo also claimed that the decision of the Supreme Court in the Asghar Khan case has spelled out defeat for the PML-N in the next general elections.

The delegation included Rao Faryad Ali Khan, President PPP Burewala, Rao Abid Ali Khan, Tariq Mehmood and other workers of PPP who met Manzoor Wattoo at his residence in Sadiawala Haveli.
