Pakistan celebrates Eidul Azha
Eid prayers were held in large congregations throughout the country.
Muslims in Pakistan are celebrating Eidul Azha with religious fervour today (Saturday).
Greetings were given to one another following Eid prayers after which people returned home for sacrificing animals in tribute to the Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi (Abrahamic sacrifice).
Eid prayers were held in large congregations.
Various religious institutions made preparations for collective sacrifice in different areas.
Strict security arrangements were made throughout the country.
Policemen were stationed at government buildings and other important ones whereas strict security measures were taken outside Eid Gahs (congregational sites).
Celluar services which had been blocked during Eidul Azha prayer times were also restored one hour after prayers.
No acts of terrorism took place anywhere in the country during Eidul Azha prayers, unlike the suicide bombing in Afghanistan which killed 41 people in a mosque in Kabul on Friday.
Eidul Azha was celebrated in neighbouring India and Bangladesh on the same day as Pakistan.
