The party has appointed PTI senior vice president Hamid Khan as its election commissioner for this purpose. The elections will be completed in three phases across the country. In the first phase, elections will be held in the Islamabad Capital Territory, followed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the second. Elections in the other three provinces will be held in the third phase.
Party members will directly elect office bearers at the union council level, who will then act as the electoral college for tehsil, district, provincial and central offices. The majority of voters will vote through SMS. PTI has purchased state-of-the-art software for this purpose. Mobile voting booths will also be arranged for voters unable to avail the SMS facility.
“We had Pakistan Peoples Party’s experience with its intra-party elections pilot project in mind… If we succeed in electing the party’s electoral college fairly through SMS, then we will use the same method for electing all office-bearers next month,” Mehmood informed this correspondent.
Meanwhile, Hamid Khan said PTI leadership was committed to making it a real democratic party. He said all arrangements for the elections had been finalised and the process will be conducted in a transparent manner.

First time in Pakistan. A big leap towards democracy and giving chance to members. I think it is time for other parties to show democratic values or otherwise people should reject feudal system in politics.
much needed but very late it has done harm to party but hopefully Khan is always a spirited fighter.
Comments show that PML-N media team is working well.
A few dozen people will select each other. It will take two three minutes.
Excellent step by PTI...
Other parties must follow...
Lolzzz.....if this whole intra-party elections charade is handed over to the likes of Dr. Arif Alvi & Son; PTI should expect a very hastened demise and recently witnessed in their UK Chapter. Read the resignation letter of Rabia Zia:

oh really, intra-party elections and in Pak?... we only hear of inheritance no matter to an 18 years old kid
Don't expect the key members will loose their current positions. Its democracy.
Well said Caramelized_Onion!
PPP and intra-party elections? If ever there was such a thing as a feudal party in Pakistan, it is the PPP. Let's hope whatever drama they created in the name of intra-party elections, is not followed by the PTI
