BAHAWALPUR:

Rs10 billion has been released for 316 development projects in the division, Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi said on Thursday.

He was addressing a meeting to review development projects by the education, health, labour, livestock and revenue departments.

The commissioner said that Rs334.1 million has been spent on 105 development projects in the district so far. Of these, he said, 17 projects had been completed.

He said that Rs302 million was being spent on 92 development projects in Bahawalnagar district and Rs360 million on 119 projects in Rahim Yar Khan district. Of these, 27 projects had been completed.

The commissioner said that delay in the completion of these projects would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against inefficient workers and those found using sub standard construction material.

He informed the meeting that a proposal for setting up a 25-acre labour colony near the new industrial estate and a new social security hospital in Rahim Yar Khan had been sent to the government.

He said the Revenue Department record was being computerised.

“The record of two villages will be computerised in the first phase, followed by the rest of the division. This will be done by the end of 2013,” he said.

The commissioner also directed the Education Department officials concerned to take strict action against teachers conducting incorrect surveys.

He said land where schools were constructed would be transferred to the Education Department in the revenue record.

He also directed the Livestock Department officials to recover pending dues from people who had been given land on lease.

It's reassuring to see that development and progress in continuing in Punjab as a whole. There is a good reason why the province remains the only stable and developing progress and people should appreciate the efforts of the CM of Punjab who never stops in working for his province.
