Condemning militancy: ANP leaders protest secretariat blast
At Thursday’s demonstration, the ANP leadership once again vowed to end militancy in the region.
PESHAWAR:
In reaction to Wednesday’s blast at the Awami National Party’s (ANP) secretariat, party leaders and activists organised a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club.
At Thursday’s demonstration, the ANP leadership once again vowed to end militancy in the region.
Addressing the participants, ANP Provincial President Senator Afrasiab Khattak condemned the attack on Bacha Khan Markaz and said it was against the ideology of their leader Bacha Khan. He said the blast was a direct attack on democracy and an attempt to sabotage peace and stability in the province ahead of Eidul Azha. The low-intensity blast had damaged a boundary wall of the secretariat on Pajjagi road. Speaking to journalists, Khattak said that the bomb blast should not be considered as a security lapse.
ANP Provincial General Secretary Arbab Tahir, former general secretary Tajuddin Khan, MPA Shagufta Malik and Pakhtun Student Federation leaders also participated in the demonstration.
Asking other political party leaders to bring forward their anti-extremist stance, Khattak said that the entire world has condemned the attack on Malala Yousafzai.
