LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan on Thursday set aside a government notification requiring the wife of a former bureaucrat to vacate a residence at GOR-I.  The court also validated the chief minister’s discretionary powers to allot government residences to officials. A petition had been moved by the wife of former bureaucrat Shahab Anwar Khawaja, Dr Shahida Shahab, that 14-Golf Road, GOR-1 had been allotted to her by the chief minister in 1994 using his discretionary powers. She said the Punjab government had issued a notification on February 17, 2012, asking her to vacate the house immediately. She said the court had earlier held the petitioner as valid allottee of the house which had not been challenged by the government.
