Board Meeting: CDA to resume auction of commercial plots

ISLAMABAD:

The CDA has decided to resume open auction of commercial plots in the city.

The decision was taken during a meeting of CDA board members on Tuesday. Revenue generation schemes and plans to tighten the noose on non-conforming use of residential buildings were the key issues discussed during the meeting.

The board members emphasised that the auction be conducted transparently to avoid controversy.

Moreover, an official privy to the meeting details said that the civic agency’s building control section has been asked to keep housing societies under its watch to ensure there is no violation of building bylaws.

Earlier, CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz had said that the civic body is considering ways to curb violations of building bylaws, especially those related to farms and commercial establishments in residential areas.

“These violations are draining the CDA’s revenues,” he said.
