Kidnap for ransom: Boy killed by uncle, another recovered unharmed
Man kills nephew over delay in payment of Rs1 million ransom.
BAHAWALPUR/GUJRANWALA:
Six men were arrested in two cases on Wednesday for the murder and kidnap of two children from their families.
In Gujranwala, a man was arrested for his nephew’s murder after kidnapping him from his house 15 days ago. Police said he had confessed to the crime.
The Girjakah station house office said Asif had kidnapped his sister’s son, Mudassar, from his house in Rasheed Colony and demanded a Rs1 million ransom.
He said for the first two days, Asif pretended to help the boy’s family and accompanied them in the search. However, after two days, he said, Asif called his sister and told her to pay him the Rs1 million ransom money.
The boy’s mother told police that Asif had threatened to kill her son if they did not pay him in a few days. She said her husband asked him for some time to arrange the money.
Initially, she said, Asif gave them 10 days, but on Tuesday he killed the boy and later dumped the body in the Aimanabad Canal.
She said the boy’s body was found by some neighbours on Wednesday. They then informed his parents.
She said they lodged a case against Asif, who was arrested from his home.
Police said Asif had confessed to the crime. He told police he had drugged the boy before throwing him into the canal. He said he killed the boy because his father had refused to pay him the money.
The body has been sent for a post mortem examination.
Boy recovered unharmed
In Bahawalpur, police recovered a four-year-old boy on Tuesday after he was kidnapped allegedly by his brother-in-law. Police arrested the kidnapper and his four accomplices.
They also seized illegal weapons and mobile phone SIM cards from them.
SP (Investigation) Shiraz Nazeer told The Express Tribune that Khwaja Pinal had kidnapped Usman three days ago while the boy was playing in front of his house in Bela Lahori Street. They said he had demanded Rs7 million ransom from his father-in-law.
The boy’s father registered a case against Pinal in Sheedani police station. He said he had been a government employee and had recently received a payment of Rs6.5 million upon his retirement. He said his son-in-law had eyes on the amount.
SHO Rana Safdar constituted a team and arrested Pinal and his accomplices–
Khwaja Ranjhan, Muhammad Ajmal, Waris Ali and Javed Iqbal– from Kot Sabzal.
Later, police recovered the boy from a nearby house on information extracted from those arrested. One Ali Akhtar was arrested from that house.
DPO Sohail Zafar Chatta said the boy was unharmed.
