Black gold: CIA busts gang selling diesel
Officials from a number of government departments were believed to be involved in the trade.
ISLAMABAD:
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) officials on Tuesday busted a gang that was illegally purchasing diesel from government vehicles at lowered rates and selling it at market price.
Officials from a number of government departments were believed to be involved in the trade.
However, “Most were from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), whose drivers were the main shareholders in the illegal sale to black market dealers,” said a CIA official.
On a tip-off, The CIA police conducted a raid in Sector I-13 along IJP road and arrested Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Naseem and Muhammad Riaz and recovered two-
and-a-half drums of diesel fuel.
Police said investigations were underway to recover the record of drivers involved in the trade, after which the relevant department will be informed about their illegal activities.
