LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday restrained the head of the Punjab University physics department from performing his official duties over allegations of a fake matriculation certificate. A two-member bench issued the order on an intra court appeal filed by Muneer Ahmad. The bench sought a report from the vice chancellor by November 11. A notice was also issued to Dr Ali. The petitioner says Dr Ali had submitted a fake matriculation certificate. His date of birth was 1954 whereas the certificate said he was born in 1959. Two inquiries had been initiated by the university, he said, but failed to reach any conclusion. However, a university committee had said that the respondent had committed fraud, the counsel pointed out.
