Dual nationality: ECP decides not to disqualify Rehman Malik
During the meeting, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, the commission reviewed the reference sent by Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch’s office regarding the decision of Malik’s disqualification.
The reference had stated that the Chairman and Deputy Chairman’s offices agreed that a question does not arise on Malik’s disqualification.
The Supreme Court had directed the Senate to decide on Malik’s disqualification and sent out a reference to the ECP.
Earlier today, Malik filed a review petition on the Supreme Court's ruling where it declared that Malik could not be considered sadiq(truthful) or ameen (trustworthy) for submitting a false statement about his nationality status.
The Supreme Court had deemed 11 parliamentarians disqualified for holding dual nationalities. The apex court had earlier declared that Malik could not be considered sadiq (truthful) or ameen (trustworthy) for submitting a false statement about his nationality status.
In the petition, Malik said the court suspended his membership and gave a coercive judgment against him on the application of a proclaimed offender Syed Akhtar Mahmood Naqvi. He said that after he had resigned from the Senate, Naqvi’s application should not have been heard by the court.
The interior minister said that he was not issued a notice, nor he was heard in the court which is a violation of the law.

Rehman Malik should have resigned earlier. He does not deserve to be at such an important post. He has lost ground. Everybody distrusts him and he has the ability of bringing wrath upon Public. Now see "Cellular Problem" during Eid. May Malik go soon from Pakistan!!! Ameen,
Unfortunately the Supreme Court of Pakistan has adjudicated their responsibility of interpreting the Constitution to the Senate Charmian. Senate Chairman is a PPP hack and what did they expect from him. Article 63(1)c clearly states that “A person shall be disqualified from being elected or chosen as, and from being, a member of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament), if, he ceases to be a citizen of Pakistan, or acquires the citizenship of a foreign State.” Some one tell me how else one could interpret this constitutional article 63(1), may be Malik should hire that magician Pirzada who could twist it and re-twist it till it is not recognizable, he has done for the military dictators.
It is a horrible joke with Pakistan!
Perjury is a serious offence. He would have been behind the bar in a civilized country, let alone Interior Minister.

Malik would be both Ameer and Sadiq if he would have aided and abetted in high treason and took oaths on PCO under army dictator against the constitution. I am glad that the CEC is untainted judge and is making the right decisions according to constitution.
This is expected from Chairman Senate to willfully make a wrong decision. The same thing was done by Fehmida Mirza in case of Gillani. The Supreme Court order in para 20(g) is clear that Rehman Malik made a false declaration at the time of filing of the documents for 2008 election. Hence he cannot be considered segacious, righteous, honest & ameen in terms of article 99(1)(f) of 1976 Act. Hence, article 63(p) for making him inelgibile to contest election be adhered. My question is do we need such people to hold public offices who only follow party lines and do not care about the very same law through which they are holding public office, else they do not have divine right to govern. Shame on us to have such intellectually corrupt and dishonest people under the garb of democracy - Chairman / Dy Chairman Senate in the instant case.
Rehman Malik is our lawmaker. May Allah have mercy on us. I am glad Al Capone is not in Pakistan. Otherwise he would be our ideal choice for Interior Minister.
Rehman Malik is a convicted also so this is a shame for pakistan having an interior minster who was kicked off for misconduct and the courts punished him. How can he hold such sensitive position?
