SIALKOT:

“The historical verdict by the Supreme Court in Asghar Khan case has exposed the true face of the PML-N leaders,” Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Sunday. He was addressing a rally in Sabz Pir near Sialkot, where he lashed out at the Punjab government.

He accused the PML-N leadership of wasting billions of rupees on the ‘so-called development projects’. Pervaiz said the distribution of laptops and setting up of Danish Schools did not signify improved access to education.

He said during his tenure as the provincial chief minister, education and textbooks till matric level had been made free.

He said the Nawaz-League’s concerns began at Raiwind and ended at Lahore. Unlike the current provincial government, Elahi said, his government had also completed development projects in Rahim Yar Khan, Attock and Bahawalpur.

Earlier, the deputy prime minister announced that Chaudhry Maqsood Sulehria would be the joint PML-Q and PPP candidate from NA 114.

Security arrangements had been finalised a week before Elahi’s address in the area. Seating arrangements were made for more than 50,000 people. Elahi arrived at the venue in a helicopter, while party workers arrived in a convoy of 50 cars.
