Workers evacuated: Blaze at towel factory put out
The fire gutted about 250 bags of towels.
KARACHI:
A fire broke out at a towel factory in North Karachi on Sunday that was doused by fire fighters after four hours. No one was hurt in the blaze that caused only material losses. The fire gutted about 250 bags of towels. The blaze erupted at around 11am on the first floor of the ground-plus-two factory apparently due to a short circuit, said fire brigade officials. Initially, one fire tender was sent to the fire site but later five more were called in to control the blaze. Police also arrived at the site to help the fire fighters in the rescue operation and to disperse the people who had gathered outside the factory. The workers present inside the factory were immediately evacuated.
