Agriculture research project approved

The board reached a consensus that an improved post-harvest management infrastructure can help reduce losses.

KARACHI:
An SECP stalls brokers’ move to steamroll margin trading system entitled “Improvement of Value Chains and Tradability of Farmer’s Produce” at the 23rd meeting of the Board of Directors of Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) at Lahore on Wednesday.

Discussing the objectives of the project, participants of the meeting said that productivity of the horticulture sector and profitability is restrained mainly due to poor quality of produce, lack of proper post-harvest management and transport infrastructure.

The board reached a consensus that an improved post-harvest management infrastructure can help reduce losses, increase production surplus and improve shelf life and quality of fresh produce, which will stabilise prices in domestic markets as well as substantially boost exports.
