Trade development: Awareness drive on EU duty-free access

The purpose of seminar was to acquaint the exporters, trade bodies and relevant organisations about EU ATP scheme.

ISLAMABAD:
Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organised an awareness seminar on the implements of EU Autonomous Trade Preference (ATP) scheme for Pakistan in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce, Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad on Thursday. The purpose of the seminar was to acquaint the exporters, trade bodies and relevant organisations about the special market access being granted by the EU for 75 products exported by Pakistan, which is to take effect from November 1, 2012. It stood imperative to create awareness among the Pakistani exporters on the details of the ATP, so that they could take full advantage of the export quotas/ceilings for the duration of the special faculty, which will expire on December 31, 2013. Asaf Ghafoor, federal secretary, Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Integration reflected on the immense opportunity emanating out of these concessions and emphasised to make the best use out of it. He also touched upon the background of these trade concessions.
