1,000 IUB students to get govt internships

"The university had climbed four steps up in High Education Commission rankings this year," says Dr Muhammad Mukhtar.

BAHAWALPUR:

The government will recruit 1,000 students of Islamia University, Bahawalpur, as interns, Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar said on Wednesday.

He said the university had climbed four steps up in the High Education Commission rankings this year.

He congratulated Dr Karamat Mehmood, the dean of faculty of education, and Dr Irshad Hussain, the Institute of Distance Education deputy director, on the establishment of USAID partnership with the university. He hoped this partnership would help the university launch new programmes and construct buildings for some departments.

He also commended the students of University College of Engineering and Technology, for their participation in the 6th Vacuum and Surface Science Conference for Asia and Australia held recently in Islamabad.

The VC informed the meeting that VCs of several universities of the country and HEC officials would visit IUB soon to attend a lecture by scientist, Dr Attaur Rehman.
