ISLAMABAD:

The Imperial International School and College (IISC) held the investiture ceremony of its student council on Wednesday.

The Japanese Counsellor, Toshikazu Isomura, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Addressing the student body, he said, “We need leaders who can make history, and the best place to start is right here.”

The newly-elected council members noted that though elections were somewhat a popularity contest, their nominations and consequent wins were based on merit and leadership qualities.

“The campaign was a lot of fun. We made banners, stickers and posters to attract voters,” said Amna Tariq, the head girl of IISC middle school. Azqa Aslam, the deputy head girl, said being a part of the student council is also a great way to set oneself apart from other students for university applications.
