National Voters Day being held today

Ceremony held at Supreme Court; judges briefed about ECP.

Marking National Voters Day, which is being held in Pakistan today (Wednesday), Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry checked his vote registration on his cell phone, Express News reported.

During a ceremony at the Supreme Court, the acting secretary of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) briefed the judges about the commission.

All voter registration offices will remain open on Saturday.

According to the ECP, anyone who is above the age of 18 years, should get their CNIC made and get themselves registered for casting a vote.

The officials on the occasion said that an application to eradicate the field of permanent address from the voting registration form will be submitted to the commission so that a citizen could vote from their current place of residence, rather than going to their native areas.

The new voting method would enable a person to vote from anywhere in the country by registering with their temporary address.
