PTV raises Rs450m for flood relief

Pakistanis both from within the country and abroad made contributions during the program.

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani appreciated PTV’s six hour special flood relief fund raising campaign which, raised an amount of Rs450 million for relief of flood victims.

According to a press release issued in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister was talking to the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira and MD PTV Arshad Khan who came to present a donation cheque at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.


The Federal Minister apprised the Prime Minister that the donations are both in cash and kind, which were collected during of PTV. He said the public response during 3-day PTV campaign was ‘overwhelming’ and Pakistanis both from within the country and abroad made generous contributions during the program.

MD PTV explained that half of the donations are in cash. He also claimed that this amount is more than fund raising campaign of any other channel, which is indicative of public trust in the Government and public sector.
