PESHAWAR:
On the second death anniversary of Mian Iftikhar Hussain’s son, Mian Rashid Hussain, the provincial government reiterated its resolve to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan. Addressing a gathering to observe the death anniversary, Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti said that words alone could not make the difference. “Action is needed to eradicate militancy and defeat terrorism,” he added. Mian Rashid was shot dead by militants two years ago in the Pabbi-Nowshera area. Senators and provincial ministers from both the Awami National Party (ANP) and  Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were present. Mian Iftikhar gave the Hilal-e-Imtiaz award to the ANP’s provincial president, Afrasiab Khattak, to be placed at the party’s head office in Peshawar, dedicating it to those who were martyred in the fight against terrorism. Participants of the gathering paid tribute to Mian Rashid and praised his father’s courage for withstanding the loss of his son’s life in the larger interest of the nation. Hoti also announced a Rs20 million fund to establish the ‘Shaheed Mian Rashid Hussain Foundation’.
