Dual nationality: PML-N members submit affidavits in ECP
PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar submitted the affidavits in the ECP on behalf of the members.
Following Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Nawaz Shairf’s directives, all his party members on Tuesday submitted affidavits in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declaring that none of them held dual nationality, Express News reported.
PML-N Senator Ishaq Dar submitted the affidavits in the ECP on behalf of the members.
The ECP had warned all lawmakers to submit declarations stating they do not hold dual nationality – else it will be assumed that they possess citizenship of more than one country.
Lawmakers have been given a month to comply with ECP's orders.
In this regard, letters had been sent to lawmakers making it clear that they have to comply with the direction within the stipulated period.
The commission will write letters to 1,174 parliamentarians who need to file fresh declarations about their nationality.
