Unsatisfactory: Female jail warden suicide inquiry report rejected

The K-P home and tribal affairs department termed the inquiry ‘incomplete and unreliable’.

PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Home And Tribal Affairs Department has rejected an inquiry report conducted by jail officials over the alleged suicide of a female jail official in Karak.

Karak sub-jail warden Rozina Begum committed suicide on February 13, 2011 saying that Constable Irshad Usman had made her life hell and she did not find any other way out but to end her life.

The inquiry was conducted by the inspectorate of the prisons department. However, the report has not been accepted by the K-P home and tribal affairs department, who termed the inquiry ‘incomplete and unreliable’.

Home and Tribal Affairs Department Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan ordered another inquiry to be conducted into the incident and gave the task to Complaints and Inquiry Section Officer Bashir Khan.

Bashir told The Express Tribune that he would be traveling to Karak soon to investigate the case further.
