‘Incompetence’: Kohsar SHO demoted
Sources said at least two recent incidents contributed to Masood’s removal.
ISLAMABAD:
Kohsar Police Station is considered a choice posting for Islamabad police officials. Inspector Khalid Masood got the coveted post a few months ago, only to lose it on Monday after being charged with “incompetence”. He was demoted to assistant sub-inspector (ASI) on the orders of the senior superintendent of police (SSP) and was asked to report to Police Lines Headquarters. Inspector Sajjad Hussain Bukhari has taken over as the new SHO. Sources said at least two recent incidents contributed to Masood’s removal. Last month, he put on record a complaint accusing the Supreme Court registrar of threatening the editor of a news agency without consulting his superiors. Inspector Masood was about to register an FIR against the registrar when the matter came into the notice of SP City, who stopped it for review, sources said. The other incident was last Saturday, when a Chinese was deprived of Rs200,000 by robbers in the posh Super Market during the day.
