Asset declaration: ECP temporarily suspends 154 members of Senate, assemblies

The step comes after lawmakers failed to submit details regarding their assets to the ECP.

ISLAMABAD:
Failing to submit declarations of their assets and liabilities, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) HAS temporarily suspended membership of around 154 members of the Senate and assemblies, Dawn.com reported on Monday.

It was earlier reported that the ECP will suspend the memberships of as many as 206 lawmakers for failing to submit details regarding their assets.


“According to the rules, ECP will issue the notifications (of suspension) on October 15,” an official had told The Express Tribune.

The list of lawmakers to be suspended comprise 46 MNAs, 109 Punjab Assembly members, 18 Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly members, 19 Sindh Assembly members, five Balochistan Assembly members and 9 senators.
