Petitioner Hafeez Rafique submitted that he had purchased a Nokia phone (NK-C3-01) from Muhammad Akram for Rs14,000 on December 22, 2011. The set did not work. He said he contacted Akram who said it would start functioning in few days but it didn’t. Akram later refused to either replace it or return his money. He prayed to the court to direct Akram to pay him Rs50,000 for loss of business, Rs30,000 for mental agony and Rs20,000 for lawyer’s fee. Talking to The Express Tribune, Akram said there was no fault with the phone he had sold. He said he would contest the case.
