Cricket: Titans register win at Champions League T20
South African outfit beat Perth Scorchers by 39 runs.
Titans thrashed Perth Scorchers by 39 runs in the first Champions League Twenty20 match played at SuperSport Park in Centurion yesterday, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Riding on half-centuries by Jacques Rudolph (83) and Henry Davids (54), Titans set a 164-run target for Perth Scorchers, who could only manage to reach 124 for seven in 20 overs. Cornelius de Villiers took three for 16 for Titans and was adjudged man of the match.
“For the team’s sake I am very happy, for myself I am over the moon,” said de Villiers. “It’s great to see a bowler get the award despite a batsman from the winning side making an unbeaten 83.”
Losing captain Marcus North conceded Titans were helped by a good start by their openers.
“Titans started well, they got off to a flier, we pulled it back well, we kept them to a par score, but we knew our top four needed to make most of the runs and they didn’t,” said North.
